Creatine, cropped fashion and iPhones lead e-commerce searches in March

Creatine, fashion cropped and iPhones: find out which are the most desired items by Brazilians on the Internet

Survey conducted by startup Simplex also highlights growth in searches for wallpaper, PlayStation consoles and gamer chairs in large retailers in March.

São Paulo, April 2023 - On the rise in the supplement market, creatine is the item most sought after by Brazilians who want to gain muscle mass and improve their sports performance. This is what the March edition of Radar Simplex points out, a survey created by the Franco-Brazilian startup Simplex, which monitors searches carried out by consumers in the largest e-commerces in the country and captures trends through an artificial intelligence platform. The supplement is in the ranking of the 10 most desired products of the month. When compared to the same period last year, the evolution is impressive: an increase of 1,015%.

"This increased interest is noticeable in the supplement and compounding pharmacy market. We have recently had very consistent scientific research pointing out the beneficial effects of creatine, which has also raised the price of the product. It is now considered the safest supplement by doctors and nutritionists," explains pharmacist Thais Menegario.

Occupying the third place of the March Radar, another item draws attention. The search for the term "cropped" was up 73.5% compared to February. The shorter length blouses, fever in the 90s, have invaded the female closet in recent years and have gained the adhesion of the male audience as well. "The result was also driven by the meme 'react, put on a cropped'", adds João Lee, CEO of Simplex, a pioneer in the technological approach of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to increase qualified online traffic, conversion and sales on the internet.

At the top of the ranking list, wallpaper is the big surprise of the month, registering growth of 146.6% over the previous month. "We always have these curious finds that, later, are confirmed or not as a trend," explains João.

iPhones and the games industry

The iPhones remain firm as one of the search champions, appearing in second place on the March list, with an increase of 118.8% in the volume of clicks compared to February. "It is already common for several models of iPhones to appear in the first places", notes the Simplex executive.

Gamer chairs, notebooks and PlayStation consoles also stand out, showing increases in demand in the order of 62%, 45% and 13.5%.

Check below the complete ranking with the ten items that most aroused the interest of Brazilians in the country's large e-commerces in March and their respective growth compared to February:

Unlike Black Friday, searches for the term Cyber Monday have no relevance in Brazil

Unlike Black Friday, searches for the term Cyber Monday have no relevance in Brazil

Despite the expressive adhesion of the Brazilian to Black Friday, Cyber Monday, which takes place on the Monday after the big retail date, has no significant searches on the internet, points out Radar Simplex

São Paulo, November 29, 2022 - Brazilians did not get seduced or search for Cyber Monday promotions this year, despite their expressive adherence to Black Friday, two days earlier. At least that is what can be seen when comparing searches for the two terms carried out by consumers on the internet. The data are from Radar Simplex, special edition Black Friday, a survey that monitors the searches carried out by consumers in the largest e-commerces operating in Brazil.

Black Friday gained visibility in the United States in the 1980s, as a promotion for the liquidation of stocks in physical stores. Cyber Monday started to gain relevance at the beginning of the 21st century (2005), basically focused on e-commerce sales of electronic products. "As in Brazil Black Friday has already emerged with a character more focused on e-commerce, for Brazilians the two dates are practically the same", says João Lee, CEO and founding partner of Simplex.

In fact, the searches carried out by the term Cyber Monday this year, when compared to those carried out by the term Black Friday, are practically non-existent. "Unlike what happened mainly in the months of September and October, when we saw the systematic growth of searches for products aggregated to the term Black Friday, we did not see searches for products aggregated to the term Cyber Monday, even after Black Friday," explains Lee.

For the CEO and founder of Simplex, in Brazil, Black Friday, due to the anticipation of promotions by stores, is already losing the character of a specific date. "Especially e-commerces in Brazil have started, each year, to anticipate Black Friday promotions a little more. Result: today we practically have Black November, that is, a whole month of promotions. And, in this context, Cyber Monday, very relevant in other markets, is completely emptied in Brazilian retail", he considers.

No change

The Simplex Radar also recorded that, after Black Friday, the products that aroused the greatest consumer interest during the sales event remained among the most sought after. On Sunday, 27, the ten products most sought after by consumers were exactly the same as on Black Friday, with only a few changes in position. The most significant change was the reduction in demand for notebooks, which fell by almost 51%. As a result, the item lost positions on the list of most wanted.

Other electronics also registered a drop in searches on Sunday, such as video game consoles (-8.3%) and air conditioners (-34%). Sneakers, decorations and clothing practically maintained similar rates of searches by consumers. Smartphones, the stars of Black Friday, remained firm in first place in searches. See below the comparative table between the most sought after items on Black Friday and the most sought after products on Sunday, the 27th.

Cell phones, laptops and refrigerators lead Black Friday searches today

Cell phones, laptops and refrigerators lead Black Friday searches today

Products are the most sought after by consumers in the early hours of the main retail date; search for the term "promotion" increased by almost 300% compared to the days leading up to Black Friday, points out Radar Simplex

São Paulo, November 25, 2022 - Mobile phones, notebooks and refrigerators are the products most sought after by consumers in the first hours of this Black Friday, which officially started at zero hour this Friday, 25. In practice, smartphones are by far the product that arouses the greatest interest from consumers, registering a volume of searches that is equivalent to almost double that registered by the second and third placed on the list, notebooks and refrigerators - which are practically tied. The data are from Radar Simplex, special edition Black Friday, a survey that monitors the searches carried out by consumers in the largest e-commerces operating in Brazil. dd

The other items that are with intense searches in the first hours of Black Friday are TVs, sneakers (shoes), and air fryers, the last two of which are maintaining search rates very similar to those recorded in the days leading up to the sales event (see list at the end of the text).

Regarding TVs, the first hours of Black Friday indicate a small drop in searches for this item when compared to last week's data (-6%) and increased demand for refrigerators (14%). For João Lee, CEO and founding partner of Simplex, this movement indicates that part of consumers, due to the FIFA World Cup, preferred to anticipate the purchase of TV sets. "By the way, many people did not want to wait until the day of Black Friday and preferred to guarantee the new TV to watch the first game of Brazil, which, by the way, debuted yesterday with a good victory and playing well!", He celebrates.

As for the leadership of cell phones, this was already expected, and indicates that smartphones are undoubtedly the big stars of the 2022 shopping event. "Since the beginning of the special monitoring of Black Friday, in October, cell phones have led the list among the most sought after products. Without a doubt, it is the main object of desire for consumers today ", he points out.

Lee also points out that Black Friday does not live only of electronics. "Sneakers and decorations remained among the most sought after products in the four weeks leading up to Black Friday, that is, they showed firm consumer interest," he stresses.

One item that registered a significant increase in searches carried out in the first hours of Black Friday, although without entering the list of the ten most sought after, were toys, which grew 263% compared to last week's data. "The phenomenon suggests that many people intend to use Black Friday to anticipate the purchase of gifts for children at Christmas. It cannot be ruled out that, part of the interest in decorations, is also aimed at the end of the year parties ", he points out.

Promotion and Google Trends

It is noteworthy this week that the terms "promotion", "offer" and "discount" grew 289% when compared to the days leading up to the sales event. Already, the search for "Black Friday", which had grown more than 300% in the third week of November, compared to the previous week, maintained an equivalent search rate in the 48 hours leading up to Black-Friday. That is, this Friday, the order of the day is the mining for last-minute opportunities for the main online retail date.

Lee points out that Google Trends points out an interesting fact: the search for "Black Friday" in the search giant this year has already surpassed the searches carried out during the same period last year. For the CEO of Simplex, this indicates that there is growth in consumer interest in Black Friday this year. "In the last twelve months there has been a drop in the unemployment rate in the country, which probably contributed to the increase in interest this year. But, as much of today's purchases will be paid in the coming months, this also denotes consumer confidence in the future, "ponders Lee.

Black Friday - Searches for TVs skyrocket as Brazil's World Cup debut nears

Black Friday - Searches grow for cell phones, TVs and air conditioners

A few days before Brazil's first game in the FIFA World Cup, searches for TVs grow 96%. Searches for soccer team shirts also increased in the third week of November, points out Radar Simplex.

São Paulo, November 18, 2022 - A few days before Brazil's debut at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, on November 24, the eve of this year's Black Friday, searches for TVs of all types and sizes registered, in the third week of November, 96% growth when compared to the previous week. The product, which last week was in the sixth position among the most sought after, now occupies the second position, behind only cell phones, absolute champions in consumer searches for Black Friday. Another item that registered a significant increase in searches was soccer team shirts (61%), probably driven by the World Cup. The data are from Radar Simplex, special edition Black Friday, a survey that monitors weekly searches carried out by consumers in the largest e-commerces operating in Brazil.

Other products that registered significant growth in searches were microwaves (166%) and clothes (151%). In the case of cell phones and smartphones, despite the stability in searches, it is worth noting that the demand for the various models of Iphone represent almost 40% of the total. Other electronics, such as refrigerators, air fryers and video game consoles maintained search rates similar to those of the previous week (see list at the end of the report).

"It is interesting to note that, as the start of the World Cup approaches, consumer interest in TVs and other football-related items grows. We believe this will continue until Black Friday," says João Lee, CEO and founding partner of Simplex. Despite the growth in searches for TVs, Lee considers that they should not quantitatively overcome searches for cell phones, which historically are the big stars of Black Friday. "This year we have screen devices (cell phones, TVs and notebooks) in the top three places in consumer interest. It will not be for lack of screen options that the fan will no longer accompany Brazil in the World Cup, "he jokes.

Lee also considers that the permanence of decoration items among the ten most sought after in the first three weeks of November is justified, in large part, by the maintenance of the home-office after the Covid-19 pandemic. "The home-office is here to stay, so it is natural that people are concerned with making the home environment more pleasant and welcoming," he believes.

The CEO of Simplex also stresses that other items that stood out at the beginning of the month, even if they are not on the list of the ten most sought after, continue to maintain consumer interest, such as air conditioners, sofas, books, e-readers (Kindle) and travel bags among others.

Black Friday

Radar Simplex also monitored searches for the term "Black Friday", which registered a 330% growth in the third week of November compared to the previous week. "Since the beginning of October we have been registering queries for the term 'Black Friday', which has been growing every week. For the next few days, the trend is that searches for the term will increase even more ", he concludes.

Black Friday - Searches grow for cell phones, TVs and air conditioners

Black Friday - Searches grow for cell phones, TVs and air conditioners

Stars of Black Friday, electronics register an increase in searches conducted by consumers in the second week of November, points Radar Simplex.

São Paulo, November 11, 2022 - Sales champions on Black Friday, electronics registered a significant increase in searches carried out by consumers in the second week of November, compared to the previous week. Cell phones, TVs and air conditioners stood out in this movement. Data from Radar Simplex, special edition Black Friday, indicate that searches for cell phones grew 17%, TVs increased 8% and searches for air conditioners registered a significant increase of 61%. Particularly among cell phones, searches grew, in general, from the most expensive and sophisticated models to the simplest and cheapest. The most popular brands are iPhone, Samsung, Motorola, Xiaomi and the popular Blu, with devices in the range of R $ 300.00.

Searches for video game consoles also rose in the second week of November, causing this item to enter the list of the ten most sought after in the period. Other electronics, such as refrigerators and air fryers, maintained search rates similar to the first week of the month, except washing machines, which lost positions and left the list of the most sought after. (see list at the end of the report).

For the CEO and founding partner of Simplex, João Lee, with the approach of Black Friday, the trend is that electronics, which historically are the items that most arouse consumer interest in this sales event, continue to register an increase in searches. "This trend of growth in searches for electronics should remain now until Black Friday, but we see that other products also compete for this space, such as sneakers and decorations", analyzes. In the specific case of TVs, the proximity of the start of the FIFA World Cup, which begins on November 20, is certainly a motivating factor. "As Brazil debuts in the World Cup on 24, possibly the interest in the product should remain until Black Friday," predicts Lee.

The Simplex CEO also points out that some products that were among the top ten most searched last week, still remain well positioned, in the list of the 15 most searched, such as books and sofas. The surprise of the week were diapers, which entered the list of products of greatest interest to consumers. "Sign that not only electronics lives Black Friday. The consumer is interested in all kinds of promotion and e-commerces need to be aware of these sales opportunities, "says Lee.

The Simplex Radar, special edition Black Friday, is a survey that monitors weekly searches performed by consumers in the largest e-commerces operating in Brazil.

Attention to landing pages

Simplex's CEO warns that e-commerces, which have already included words and terms related to Black Friday on their landing pages, should now avoid making major changes to these pages. This is because expressive changes in content can lead search engines to consider that it is a new page, and it loses its ranking position, something that can have a very negative impact on the entire sales effort of the period. "There are no problems with making small adjustments such as price or delivery time, but more significant changes to landing pages and titles can cause loss of ranking. You need to be aware of this, "he warns.

Black Friday: decorations and books surprise and emerge among the ten most sought after items in the first week of November

Black Friday: decorations and books surprise and emerge among the ten most sought after items in the first week of November

Electronics top the list of the ten products most sought after by consumers, combined with the term 'Black Friday,' in the first week of November. Decorations, sofas and books surprise and make up the other items in the relationship, points Radar Simplex.

São Paulo, November 4, 2022 - Electronics are undoubtedly the products that arouse the greatest interest from consumers on Black Friday, with cell phones being by far the most sought after item, followed by notebooks and appliances, such as refrigerators and air fryers. However, other products also seek space among the stars of the main national e-commerce consumption date and surprise, such as decorative items, sofas and books, which appear among the ten items that most aroused the interest of consumers in the first week of November. This is what Radar Simplex points out, special edition Black Friday, a survey that monitors the searches carried out by consumers in the largest e-commerces operating in Brazil, in relation to the first week of November (see list of items at the end of the article).

"We always have the expectation that at the top of searches for Black Friday will always be electronics and one other item of clothing or footwear, but books and decorations being on the list was definitely surprising," says João Lee, CEO and founding partner of Simplex.

Lee believes that items such as decorations and sofas may be somehow linked to the increase in home-office in the country. "It is quite possible that the fact that people spend more time at home stimulates the search for home comfort items and that contribute to making the home environment more pleasant," he ponders. "The significant search for books is something really unusual," he adds. Lee points out that e-readers, although not among the ten most sought after items, also register a good placement, among the 15 most desired items. "It is always good to see books and e-readers among the most sought after items," he says.

Attention to ranking

But it is not only the products that arouse greater interest in consumers that e-commerces should be aware of. Companies also need to be alert to the positioning (ranking) on search engines, such as Google and Bing.

According to Simplex's CEO, it is urgent that companies already insert terms related to Black Friday on their landing pages to be well ranked on these sites. "Those who have not done so are surely already late and at serious risk of reaching Black Friday without having achieved a good position on search engines. And that can be fatal to sales, "he warns. The main e-commerce sales event takes place this year on November 25th.

Companies that have already included words and terms related to Black Friday on their landing pages should now avoid making major changes to these pages, as this may be "understood" by search engines as a new page and it may lose ranking. "There are no problems with making small adjustments, but more significant changes to landing pages and titles can cause loss of ranking. You have to be aware of this ", highlights Lee.

Airline tickets and travel packages are on consumers' wish list for Black Friday

Airline tickets and travel packages are on consumers' wish list for Black Friday

Travel, airline tickets, perfumes, sofas, drinks, makeup, books and even tattoos stand out among the various items that presented, in October, a high rate of searches carried out by consumers combined with the term 'Black Friday'.

São Paulo, October 28, 2022 - Black Friday is not only about electronics. Although cell phones, notebooks, refrigerators, airfryers and other electronics items are the most sought after in the promotions of the most important date of the year for online commerce, other products and services also compete for consumer interest. According to data from Radar Simplex, special edition Black Friday, which monitors the searches carried out by consumers in the largest e-commerces operating in Brazil, the month of October registered intense searches for airline tickets, travel packages, perfumes, sofas, drinks, makeup, tires, diapers, books and even tattoos combined with the term 'Black Friday'.

"We noticed that searches for airline tickets, tour packages and travel agencies are among the Black Friday promotions that already arouse great interest. This suggests that, after the Covid pandemic, these items have become objects of desire for a significant portion of the population ", reports João Lee, CEO and founding partner of Simplex. For him, it is natural that, after a long period of restrictions on mobility, there is a dammed demand for travel. "In the same vein, we also see that there are significant searches for promotions in theme parks, in Brazil and abroad, and also for travel bags and on-board bags", he points out.

Other products

As well as travel packages and tickets, consumers are already starting to search for the first promotions and research the prices of various products, going far beyond the traditional electronics. Beauty items, perfumes and makeup appear with expressive rates of demand. Among the searches that are performed by the consumer in conjunction with the term 'Black Friday', it is common to bring the name of major brands, national and international. "This signals that the consumer does not expect only shopkeepers to make promotions, but also that the manufacturers of various products themselves contribute with differentiated prices and discounts", believes the CEO of Simplex.

They also appear on the list of the most searched and monitored products in relation to Black Friday sofas, mattresses, tires, drinks (whiskey, beer and wine, in that order), diapers, jewelry, bicycles and coupons for snacks. "Another champion in searches are books. The phenomenon is a wake-up call for bookstores, which can also take advantage of Black Friday to boost sales," says Lee.

Tattoos and sex shop

Attention is drawn to the growing demand for tattoos on sale. "Times change and so does culture. It is natural, therefore, that people also scour the internet looking for discounts on this type of service. Today, tattooing the body is absolutely common, and not just among young people. So we cannot say that this fact is a surprise, but rather that it is a heated market, "says Lee.

Another term that begins to appear more frequently allied to searches for Black Friday is 'sex shop', in addition to products related to this type of trade. For the CEO of Simplex, it is natural that the internet becomes the major sales channel for these products, as many consumers are not comfortable visiting physical stores. For Lee, the main e-commerces and partner stores are aware of the issues related to the commercialization of these products and the care that must be taken in relation to the shipment, which must be carried out discreetly without exposing the consumer. "As consumer confidence in these shipping precautions increases, online sales of these items tend to grow," he considers.

Black Friday now

For the founding partner of Simplex, the fact that consumers start searches related to the term 'Black Friday' as early as October indicates that e-commerces cannot waste any more time in including terms such as 'Black Friday heat', 'soon on Black Friday' or 'Black Friday is coming' on their landing pages. "This is essential so that, when we get to Black Friday week, these e-commerces are well positioned on search engines," he says. Lee reinforces that insertions of themes related to this commercial date make e-commerce considered, by search engines, as relevant to the consumer interested in the promotions of this sales event. "Anyone who is not well positioned on search engines the week of November 25, Black Friday date, will surely lose sales," he warns. "It is essential for e-commerces to guarantee this good positioning right away," adds Lee.

From the beginning of November, the Simplex Radar will monitor search trends for Black Friday 2022 on a weekly basis.

Consumer already digs Black Friday products, eyeing good discounts

Consumer already digs Black Friday products, eyeing good discounts

Profile of searches carried out in the first half of October indicates that the consumer is already starting to search for products related to the term 'Black Friday'. For expert, trend points out that people are monitoring prices since the beginning of October. Electronics lead the searches.

São Paulo, October 20, 2022 - The profile of searches carried out in the first half of October, in national e-commerces, indicates that consumers have already started monitoring prices and mining the first Black Friday offers of 2022. According to data from Radar Simplex, special edition Black Friday, which monitors searches in the largest e-commerces operating in Brazil, there is a clear movement of consumers to insert the term 'Black Friday' when conducting research on products and services.

The movement indicates that consumers are already keeping an eye on the first offers of the main promotional sales date of e-commerces, which takes place this year on November 25. "We observed that in addition to starting to search for products with the term 'Black Friday', consumers are also looking for the prices of current promotions, to compare the offers of the products in which they are interested," says João Lee, founding partner of startup Simplex, specialized in increasing traffic and conversion of online sales.

This behavior also indicates that the consumer is increasingly attentive to detect and deviate from false promotions. "Consumers seek, in fact, an effective discount on products to realize the purchase," he ponders.

Highlights

The Simplex Radar, special edition, monitored the searches of the first half of October in four categories (Electronics; Home, decoration and housewares; Fashion and footwear and Entertainment) and listed in each of these categories the products that appear most in the searches made by consumers, who also added the term "Black Friday" to the name of the desired product.

In the Electronics category, the champion products presented in conjunction with the term 'Black Friday' are cell phones. "The deployment of 5G technology across the country has contributed greatly in this regard," says Lee. Then there are notebooks, Smart TVs, video game consoles and e-readers, such as the Kindle. In the Home, Decoration and Housewares category, Black Friday searches are primarily directed at refrigerators, followed by airfryers, microwaves, sofas and closets. In Fashion and Footwear, sneakers lead searches from sports brands to more casual brands, followed by bags, flip-flops, bikinis and sandals. Finally, in Entertainment, the most searched were streaming channels such as Netflix, Globo Play, Amazon Prime and Disney Plus.

Other products also begin to emerge with greater intensity in searches in conjunction with the term 'Black Friday', such as tires, drinks (whiskey, beer and wine), perfumes, makeup, jewelry, bicycles, airline tickets, travel packages, coupons for snacks and even diapers.

Well-positioned

For the founding partner of Simplex, searches related to the term 'Black Friday', detected in the first half of October, already indicate the main trends of this year-end promotions. And they are a warning to e-commerces about the importance of being well positioned on search engines if they want to make the most of the main date for national e-commerce. "It is important that websites already launch landing pages related to these products that we highlight with terms such as 'Black Friday heat', 'soon on Black Friday' or 'Black Friday is coming' and other variations. This increases the chances of the page being very well ranked at the height of the Black Friday season, which is decisive in online competition, "he explains. He points out that insertions of themes related to this commercial date make e-commerce considered by search engines as relevant to consumers interested in Black Friday promotions.

In 2021, Brazilian e-commerce obtained revenues on Black Friday in the order of BRL 4.2 billion (NielsenIQ|Ebit data). The date has already surpassed the sales recorded at Christmas when considering only products sold via e-commerce. "For those who work specifically in online commerce, Black Friday has already become the most important sales date of the year. It is an excellent opportunity to leverage revenue, "says Lee.

September searches reveal products with highest sales potential on Black Friday

September searches reveal products with highest sales potential on Black Friday

Cell phone, video games and subscription to streaming channels lead the searches in the month; E-commerces need to guarantee, from now on, the best positions on search engines for their sales champions, with an eye on Black-Friday, says expert

São Paulo, September 27, 2022 - Two months before Black-Friday 2022, which this year falls on November 25, internet searches in the largest e-commerces operating in Brazil in four categories - Electronics; Home, Decoration and Housewares; Fashion and Footwear, as well as Entertainment - already give good clues as to which will be some of the sales champions of the biggest e-commerce promotions season. In September, the first special edition of the Simplex/Black Friday 2022 Radar reveals a warming of online demand for cell phones, subscription games, video game consoles, refrigerators and streaming subscriptions.

In the specific case of Electronics, the highlights of September are for cell phones and video game console, both with more than five million searches, and various notebooks, with about 2.4 million searches.

In Entertainment, the most searched have been online games, also in the range of five million searches, and streaming services, with about two million searches. In the Home and Housewares area, the products that register the highest demand are refrigerators, airfryers, wallpaper and kitchen cabinets. In Fashion and Footwear, sneakers stand out. All these items registered more than one million searches when adding the websites of the main e-commerces.

Time to populate the internet

For João Lee, founding partner of the startup Simplex, specialized in increasing traffic and online sales conversion., now is the time for e-commerces to start populating search engines with the term Black Friday and similar - such as Black Friday Heat, Black October, Black Promotions and other variations. "You need to associate your promotions with the term Black Friday, if you want to have a good position in the rankings of search engines in the coming weeks, which are critical for any retailer, in particular, for online," he warns. According to the expert, the chances of an e-commerce page being better ranked at the height of the Black Friday season in eight weeks' time are already increased. And there's more. "When an online retailer inserts themes related to the term Black Friday, search engines favor it, as they consider it relevant to consumers interested in promotions, positioning their pages better," he details.

Other care

Lee warns e-commerce businesses to avoid making major changes or structural alterations to the site in the run-up to or even during Black Friday. "The greater the stability of a page right away, the better it can take advantage of the benefits of cachethat is, that storage layer that memorizes the main characteristics of a page and allows its upload to take place at high speed ", he explains. This does not mean that the content of the pages cannot be updated over time as Black Friday approaches. "Information such as price updates, product availability and shipping can be changed, without Google considering these changes as a whole new page. In practice, if the page is old and highly visited, its relevance is greater for the search engine algorithm", he details.

Lee gives some tips for online retailers to better position themselves in the main promotion season, avoiding one of the deadly sins of Black Friday: slow page loading. A few milliseconds of slowness are enough to bring down the positioning of pages on search engines, compromising their exposure to consumers in the first places. "In this period of intense traffic, an adequate and flexible infrastructure is needed to support an absurd variation in the number of accesses with peaks that exceed the entire history of the year," he recommends. "The scalability of cloud computing and the use of a Content Delivery Network (CDN) system - which guarantees the immediate loading of cache pages during the increase in accesses - are good practices that make all the difference", he indicates.

So much effort makes sense. On Black Friday 2021, Brazilian e-commerce totaled BRL 4.2 billion in revenue, according to data from NielsenIQ|Ebit, surpassing sales before Christmas. "For those who work specifically in online commerce, Black Friday has become the most relevant date of the whole year and deserves maximum attention to leverage revenue," says Lee.

Electric motorcycles and men's goods led search growth in August

The announcement of the launch of a low-cost electric scooter by one of the world's major automakers led to a significant increase in searches for these types of vehicles in August. Items such as men's clothing and footwear also recorded growth in searches motivated by Father's Day.

São Paulo, August 13, 2022 - The announcement made by a major automaker in the sector, about the launch of an electric motorcycle model, with a value below R $ 4 thousand, caused searches for electric scooters to skyrocket in August. Even the fact that the model, at first, is marketed only in China, with no forecast of arrival in the national market, did not discourage Brazilians. As a result, the term, which had registered in July just under two thousand searches, rose in August to more than 120 thousand, a growth of around 7,400%.

Electric bicycles also appeared among the ten terms that proportionally grew the most over the previous month, reaching an increase of more than 900%, probably in the wake of searches for electric two-wheeled vehicles. The data is from Radar Simplex, a platform that uses artificial intelligence to monitor trends in online searches from massive data collection in 15 different segments, ranging from electronics, to pets and food.

"We have noticed that searches for electric vehicles have been increasing in the country for some time, but seeing this movement so large for a launch in China, shows that there is real interest in this type of vehicle, even more within an affordable value range", analyzes João Lee, founding partner of Simplex. "The fact that the automaker announced that the model would be marketed below US $ 800, that is, in the range of R $ 4 thousand, a price well below the average practiced in the country for an electric scooter, certainly contributed to arouse interest in the vehicle", he adds.

Other items whose searches grew significantly in August, when compared to July, were those related to home comfort and also to renovation and construction. Aluminum windows, porcelain floors, swimming pool, security camera, lampshade and mirror are all terms that registered average growth in searches above 600%. "At the beginning of the pandemic, and most likely due to the increase in the home-office work model, we saw a growth in interest in improving the home with furniture, such as sofas, office chairs and others. Today, what we observe is that this may be deepening, with broader reforms in the property itself. These searches may also represent an increase in the civil construction sector ", ponders the founding partner of Simplex.

Father's Day

When comparing the same periods this year with last year, men's items such as blazers and sports shoes are among those with the highest growth rate in searches, registering rates of 190% and 109% respectively. Father's Day, combined with the low temperatures recorded during the month, probably contributed to the increase in searches for these items.
