Black Friday boosts demand for smartphone models on the Internet in November, points out Radar Simplex

São Paulo, December 2024.

In the month of Black Friday, which this year took place on November 29th, various smartphone models dominated searches in major e-retailers. This is what the edition of Radar Simplex, a survey by the Franco-Brazilian startup Simplex, which monitors searches made by consumers in the country's largest e-commerce stores and captures trends through an artificial intelligence platform, points out. The Apple and Xiaomi brands stood out, according to the startup's survey.

The Xiaomi Poco f5, Xiaomi 14 Pro, Xiaomi Poco X5 Pro, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 14 showed growth of 445.6%, 283.7%, 249.5%, 297 %, 214.3% and 238.7% respectively in November compared to October. The top-of-the-line iPhone 15 was in last place in the ranking of the 15 most searched terms, with an increase of 135.4% compared to the previous month.

"It's already common behavior for Brazilian consumers to look for smartphone models that predate the most recent ones on Black Friday. These are usually the items with the biggest discounts, representing a good deal for those who want to change their handset for less," explains João Lee, CEO of Simplex.

Samsung didn't go unnoticed in the 2024 mega promotion either. However, consumers were more general, looking for good deals not just on the brand's smartphones. This is indicated by searches for the term "Samsung", which grew by 349% during the period. "When it's a less specific search, people were probably looking for a variety of products," says João.

In addition to smartphones, remote controls for the PlayStation 4 stood out, topping the Simplex Radar with a 602.1% jump in November compared to October.

Brush dryers, helmets, e-bikes and household items such as vacuum cleaners and double box beds complete the ranking.
