According to a survey by startup Simplex, Consumer Week boosted demand for various products
São Paulo, April 2024.
Consumer Week, which took place from March 11 to 18, was notable for the variety of searches Brazilians made on the web. Traditional products, such as electronics, moved the online retail trade, but less common items such as vibrators, bicycles and air humidifiers also appeared on the wish list. This is what the March Simplex Radar points out, a survey created by the Franco-Brazilian startup Simplex, which monitors the searches made by consumers in the country's largest e-commerces and captures trends through an artificial intelligence platform.
According to the startup, an analysis on Google Trends shows that interest in Consumer Week has doubled in the last five years. "People have taken the opportunity to search for a variety of items that are generally considered more expensive, including those in the wellness category, with an eye on good offers," says João Lee, CEO of Simplex.
In the top ten most searched terms on the Internet, Iphone 14 stood out with an 885% increase compared to February. The 12 and 13 models also grew by 178% and 175% respectively. Food processor took second place in the ranking, with a jump of 469% compared to February.
The impacts of frequent heatwaves, meanwhile, continued to drive searches. In third place, air humidifiers stood out with an increase of 288% over the previous month. As in previous editions of this year's Simplex Radar, air conditioning remained on the list, with an increase of 177% compared to February. "We've noticed in this year's Radars that consumers were already looking for savings when buying air conditioning. The presence of the item in Consumer Week, whose interest has been growing in recent years, is consistent with previous surveys," observes João Lee, CEO of Simplex.
The big surprise in Radar's ranking, however, was the term "vibrator". The item showed an increase of 163% compared to February.
